Last week I had the opportunity to stay in Squaw Valley. Some of the shops where open, and a lot of construction around the mountains, preparing the ski lifts, and trams for this upcoming winter season.
For many years, when I was a child my parents would pack up all my sisters in the station wagon and head for Tahoe. We would camp, or rent a cabin every October for approximately 13 years or so. During our stay, we would go horse back riding, cannoning, boating out on the lake, shopping, tubing down the Truckee river, or bicycle riding. It was quite fun and we looked forward to escaping Los Angeles. The fresh smell of the mountains, the cold mountain water, and even snow. Snow fell in October in those years, now it seems to fall later, and later each year.
However Tahoe is still growing and more beautiful than ever.
In October the sun was warm and shining, people were still laying out in the sun.
Looking down on Emerald Bay.
Looking over the bridge at River Ranch Hotel one of my favorite spots to stay and relax.
Lake Tahoe a great place to ski, camp, sailing, lots to do in Northern California.
